# ^this^
I even understand people wanting to get married in churches purely based on architectural choice.
But wanting to get married in the eyes of a lord that hates you is very weird.

# i know they have said there will be 'special rules' that mean a church can't be forced into performing them if they don't want
but does that hold with other houses of worship for different faiths?

i dunno, i tend to keep out of it as i'm not learned on such stuff.

it just sounds like a rebrand of cival partnership, but with some new locations, to me, but then what do i know.

# To quote an excellent John Grant song...
"Jesus hates pretty much anything you want him to"

I'm sure plenty of Christians ignore the one line in the new testament against homosexuality, especially as it is listed alongside being drunk as a sin in that particular list. If they have a problem with gay weddings, they should have a problem with anyone getting drunk at a wedding too.

I can't help but feel that the making out being gay is specifically at odds with Christianity when 90% of the modern world is at odds with some part of the bible, is fueling a lot of homophobia. The media likes conflict, but I don't think gays vs Christians is entirely true.

I wonder if the thing many Christians have a problem with is simply change. Ultimately, religion is going to be attractive to people who like tradition.

# It's like organized religion is just a load of made-up contradictory bullshit used to control the masses in less enlightened times.
