Put it in a covered box for a while. The darkness will calm it down a bit. Then you can try leaving it alone with bird food and water. Otherwise, call the RSPCA (are you in the UK?) and they'll tell you to take it to a local vet on the RSPCA's behalf/free of charge.

hope your pidge/dove gets better. We have a wood pigeon who visits here quite often (yes, I know it's an agricultural pest but the cats have killed everything else round here), and he seems to like the corn-type bird feed the most :)
