# Rick is an anglicised version of the French name René. Descartes is pronounced 'Deckard' phonetically.
Rick Deckard therefore is an anglicised version of René Descartes, whose most famous quote is 'Cogito ergo sum' (I think therefore I am) which is basically the plot of Blade Runner!
