In my defense, the one we used during my last 2 years of parochial school (Junior High)...We had one that was reflective, rather than transmissive. Very bright light and very hot, but you could project non-translucent images and objects. Space-Age shit right there, man!

I bought one off eBay a few years agointending to use it to do a liquid light show for a gig that didn't end up happening...been gathering dust ever since (still want to try doing liquid visuals at some point).

I have one. I like using the fresnel to amplify my flashlight. Also to burn ants, obviously.
