this is great.
as a fisherman I love discovering new knots. I will definitely try this one, it's easy and hopefully quicker than the extra overhand on the loops which I normally use.

I do a double-wound version of the standard knot and it holds even better.

NOTE: For normal activities, the Ian Knot or other standard knots should be quite secure. I believe that many people seek more secure knots because they are, without realizing, tying their shoelaces with an un-balanced βGranny Knotβ. Please see my Granny Knot page that discusses this in detail.
