i have seen the error of my ways
however, the servers for paint.net are also housed in datacenters
just so you know
every single bit of digital work we do has the nasty footprint
but yes i do acknowledge that AI is different

When I make something I tend to make 1 of it, the way I want it.
I don't make multiple variations of what might be interpreted by the words I used to describe the idea, cross referenced with multiple yottabytes of stolen training data, heating up the planet and cooling doomed electronics with forever-chemical-tainted fresh water, burning tonnes of fossil fuels in the process, in order to settle on the least shit, least generic misinterpretation of whatever fleeting fancy happens to be in my brain at the time.

They don't because they can't.
There are several good reasons not to put datacentres in space apart from the cost and unfeasible engineering problems.
There are several good reasons not to allow the construction of datacentres on Earth, too.
Best case scenario: when the AI bubble bursts a lot of them (especially the perpetually unfinished ones) could be quickly converted into industrial scale greenhouses.
What we do with the forever-poisoned water in the functioning ones IDK.
