Bleh,
Seeing as my original post got spazzed 3 pages back in the last 2 hours, and there might be someone who could help me now, i'l just c+p the whole thing here... I wouldn't, but its kind of urgent, brr...
'Started off today with doing the monthly virus scan, and it crashed half way through... Probably not good, I thought, but I put some music on and went to wash and stuff. Music stopped, came back, computer buggered, about 5 blue screens when I load up, its taken me 4 tries to get it to stay running, and on startup it tells me something about '4 last int''
Right, I reckon its fluke that it's loaded up this time, so i'm going to burn to CD anything important I can find, then start fiddling... Only problem is, I have no idea where to start fiddling. Advice anyone?

Fiddling is mostly a waste of time
Back up anything important (including your favourites and stuff like that) - you do this anyway don't you?
Wipe the drive
Reinstall OS and apps.
Sounds like a lot of work, but it comes out quicker in the end and is guaranteed to work.

Well,
Most i've ever really done is stick ram in, I don't trust myself when it comes to formatting and the like, i'm gonna be such a great assistant IT support bloke come work experiance.
Anyhow, as long as everythings backed up I may as well try a little fiddling...

really
a boot disk is a floppy disk with the bare minimum you need to access dos, your harddisk and normally your CD. Without it fixing your computer when its gone titsup is a lot of hassle. You should be able to create one from the windows control panel (somewhere in System I think). good luck.

highly reccomend
when you reformat
partition the drive, copy your win98(or whatever) cd onto your second partition
install from there.
makes life a lot easier.
