# Head to
www.bonsaikitten.com, one of the most famous hoazes on the web (even the RSPCA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) fell for it.

Yes, the pictures are all fake. ;-)

# The RSPCA's indignant cries
were met with laughter.

Incidentally, I agree with koit's comment below. I really wish I'd been a b3tan when I toured round America last year - so many people I could have met up and gone down the pub hung around with...

# ^__^
Yah, I wish i was closer to some of you guys! *sniff* i wanna go to a bash... :)

# So do I.
I'm off to uni this October, at which point I'll be out of the range of Conservative Parents and able to go to bashes.

Right now, it'd go something like
"I'm headed to London."
"Why?"
"Meeting up with a load of online friends."
"Hmm. You know them?"
"Very well."
"Where are you meeting?"
"Uh... the Hare and Hounds pub."
"Oh. When'll you be back?"
"Uh... midnight?"
"Thomas, are you really sure this is a good idea?..."

sigh

You anywhere near Vegas? I may be headed there in February...
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 0:56, archived)
# Im in Idaho, actually....
I completely understand your conservative parent issues. I just started at the local university last fall, and don't have enough money for my own place. i'm stuck living at home. ick.
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 0:57, archived)
# Idaho.
Well, I went nowhere near there. (New England, Mid-West, and the South.)

We're lucky over here - all the unis have student accomodation, at least for the first year, and the really high tax rates mean that very few students have to stay at home (and we end up only about $10,000 in debt by the end of it all).
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 0:59, archived)
# !!
I wish i could get on campus for that cheap..in spite of the years of debt! ^__^
so what are you going to vegas for? just a good time losing all your money at casinos?
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:01, archived)
# Nope.
Not old enough for that - two and a half years yet ;-)

The JREF holds an annual conference, with probably the best magicians, scientists and just plain cool people. I didn't make it last year (only just got back from America!) but I'm really hoping to make it this time.

Plus, I want to see Penn & Teller at the Rio.
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:05, archived)
# Ooooooo!
I love penn and teller! are you a magician-y fellow, then?
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:06, archived)
# Can't do magic,
but love watching it.

I'm an agnostic-going-on-atheist, skeptic, and general raining-on-the-paranormal-brigade's-parade person. So, Penn, Teller, scientists, magicians... it's all good ;-)
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:09, archived)
# Amen to that!
That'll be fun then...you should drop me a postcard while your in my general vicinity! ^__^
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:11, archived)
# If by 'general vicinity'
you mean 'several thousand miles' then...

okay.

Wow, I love the size of America.
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:13, archived)
# yeah...
i guess i never really thought of it like that... we are huge, aren't we?
wow...taken out of context, that sounds wrong... ^__^
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:14, archived)
# *blink* *blink*
Uh, yes. Yes you are.

...

Seriously, though - most people over here don't realise the size of America, and you don't realise how small our little windswept island is.

Although we do, apparently, like each other's accents. A British accent goes a long way in America ;-)

# *growls*
you bet it does, mister! Even a fake one! the real ones are best, though. ;)
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 1:18, archived)
# Heh.
Yeah. I have... uh... kind of first hand experience with that ;-)

# I might be attending the next big affair.
Though I'm technically underage, think anyone'll care?
(, Sun 15 Jun 2003, 0:58, archived)
# I'm not sure what the rules are.
Which is why I've been pushing for a bash not in a pub for ages.
