# for me it was something similar
I was about 11 years old and there was this song with an annoying tune singing the first however many of the elements at the beginning of the crap science videos we watched.

It's a decade on, why is it still in my brain?

# dunno
I still use it, since I'm in materials engineering (kind of)

that's why it's in mine

# sadly I do not have that excuse
not even looked at a periodic table since I finished my GCSEs.

# the song's by Tom Lehrer,
to the tune of 'I am the very model of a modern Major-General' by gilbert and sullivan.
I'm sad to (say I) know it off by heart.

# that's the one!
I'm so glad it wasn't just me!

theeeeere's hydrogen and helium and lithium, beryllium, there's boron carbon nitrogen oxygen fluorine neon...

# hehehe
that would be handy :)

I know one like that for the us states, so I can say them all in alphabetical order.

# but you remembered them in order,
which is much better. Lehrer jiggled them around so they rhyme.
There's antimony, arsenic, aluminIum, selenium...

# ah right
the one I'm thinking of relied more on rhythm, but it was that modern major general crap.

# I could list them all
but I won't, because I'm lazy and it would bore you
