Thinking of student carpets...Golden syrup goes quite well on the carpet outside housemates bedroom from what I've heard...stays sticky for weeks/months/years depending on how drunk my mate is when telling the story...apparently his housemate managed to avoid treading for almost the entire year, and then trod in it barefoot on the last morning they were in the house...
