Both are right (to some extent)
Use of 'foo' and 'bar' as temporary variable names is a common programmer idiom, but 'FUBAR' (fvcked up beyond all recognition) is a Vietnam term (IIRC). I think the latter gave rise to the former though.
In the context of the original post, fubar would be more correct though.
