# Having read only the replies I am going to suggest something that's probably irrelevant.
My router/modem kept dying recently and it was exaserpated by use of bit-torrent. However the actual problem was the fact that I was using the proxy DNS in my router/modem (a D-Link DSL 504).
The thing is that the proxy DNS could not handle more than a certain number of 'live' DNS requests (ie, those that hadn't timed out).
Using bittorrent was causing it to thrash the DNS proxy which eventually lead it to die on its arse (the router was running out of memory).
So, it's probably nothing, but it might be worth trying turning off any proxy DNS you have and pointing your machine at your ISP's name servers.
