# 'probably shouldn't happen'
precisely. And I reserve my right to moan - AND continue to watch the tournament. Moaning about something which we are unable to adjust - depth in defence - and something we are able to change - inconsistant referee decisions - are quite different. And it is only natural to defend one's national team against decisions which go against them - don't you do the same? These apologists who waste their time defending referees. What's the point?

# It's not inconsistent
to give that decision. I do defend my nation and team against decisions - but on the basis of some understanding of what goes on in football week after week.

If you can, get a copy of a Euro 96 video. Tell me why Spain had 2 goals disallowed. To keep the home side in the tournament?

# Marc de Batta robbed Spain.
Possible, isn't it? Call me cynical - but that says it all to me.

I also watch football from week to week, but my local team were second from bottom in the Kent League this season - so the professional refs, admitedly i see less of.
