# Agreed.
It was very important to keep the host nation in the tournament.

# Bollocks
Despite the explanation (was nothing to do with rebound - for inital foul by Sol charging into the box) people who get angry about it do not watch football every week because similar decisions get given constantly. Goalkeeprs get protected - probably shouldn't happen, it does, same decision would have been given up the other end and England have no squad depth, which people should be spending their time moaning about instead.

# Thank you Rev
I haven't ventured out of the house to watch a single game this tournament because of those people. And as for the people who won't bother watching anymore........AAAAAAARGH!
the anger it rises.
I salute you sir. (France Greece wasn't that good to be fair, just amusing).

# Was in Corfu
so got into the Greek team.

They've cocked up and you cannot buy a Greek shirt at the moment due to some sponsorship arse-up (cocks) and I wanted a Charisteas shirt last week. Would have ruled to be wearing that as the goal went in.
(, Mon 28 Jun 2004, 11:21, archived)
# Fair play
that would've been ideal.
I honestly don't know which way that semi's going to go, i still can't work the Greeks out! Terrible against Russia, lucky against the Portuguese, Class and well organised against the CESMs, and as for the Dutch?
My brain hurts, a Czech / Greek final'd be the best though in my opinion.

# 'probably shouldn't happen'
precisely. And I reserve my right to moan - AND continue to watch the tournament. Moaning about something which we are unable to adjust - depth in defence - and something we are able to change - inconsistant referee decisions - are quite different. And it is only natural to defend one's national team against decisions which go against them - don't you do the same? These apologists who waste their time defending referees. What's the point?
(, Mon 28 Jun 2004, 11:26, archived)
# It's not inconsistent
to give that decision. I do defend my nation and team against decisions - but on the basis of some understanding of what goes on in football week after week.

If you can, get a copy of a Euro 96 video. Tell me why Spain had 2 goals disallowed. To keep the home side in the tournament?
(, Mon 28 Jun 2004, 11:32, archived)
# Marc de Batta robbed Spain.
Possible, isn't it? Call me cynical - but that says it all to me.

I also watch football from week to week, but my local team were second from bottom in the Kent League this season - so the professional refs, admitedly i see less of.

# The press have been appalling
"Here's his website! Here's his phone number!" etc etc.

I always feel that England is the sort of team that needs to get knocked out before a tournament can relax and enjoy itself. But then, I'm a jocko.

# he points with his middle finger
normal people point with their index finger but he does everything with his middle finger, he called on stretchers by sticking his middle finger up at the sideline and waving it. If you look at the top picture you can see that he uses his middle finger
