Hmm....I don't think full hand codingis necessary.....fireworks will do all the donkeywork so all you have to do is optimise by hand afterwards just to get rid of duplicate images. Having said that I also did a lot of re-editing in dreamweaver, but I didn't have to - it worked fine on its own.
