Wanadoo do not rate high on the sustained data rate scaletheir service slows at peak times *allegedly*. There is a site that compares all the providers (I can't recall the site now due to alcohol). Some provide 512k connection but only achieve a fraction of this in real terms. It is worth checking before signing up.

CarefulDon't mistake Kbit/sec for bytes/sec. I can't remember which is which (alcohol), but it's not the same.
576 whatevers is the standard downward flow rate on a 512 Kbit/sec connection.
