She's know as "Countess Christina" and is some kind of Gothic young lady from Finland. Her website is at http://fury.fi/~logix/index.html although the pics seem to be disabled at the moment.

and on consecutive threads, that's just asking for it....
Although I have less sympathy for the dial-ups classes since I got my ADSL.
Although - Tesco have now got a 512kb deal, free modem, free connection, £19.99 a month, wish I'd gone with that instead of the one I signed up for last month...

month they changed all services to 1mbps, it's the allowances that vary. 17.99 is the cheapest option, comes with free connection, modem etc. only needs a BT line.

Good site, lists all ISPs. I'm on DComms Europe: not their cheapest options, but £19.96/month, no port blocking, no limits, 512kbps. Seems to work OK.

their service slows at peak times *allegedly*. There is a site that compares all the providers (I can't recall the site now due to alcohol). Some provide 512k connection but only achieve a fraction of this in real terms. It is worth checking before signing up.

Don't mistake Kbit/sec for bytes/sec. I can't remember which is which (alcohol), but it's not the same.
576 whatevers is the standard downward flow rate on a 512 Kbit/sec connection.

it only downloads once. you should take a look at an optimization tutorial. There used to be a really good one, somewhere, but I don't remember where.
