# well
the lambs were first brought to the farm, when EU subsidieys made them a viable beast to rear, before that we were a 90% arrable farm with just 6 dairy cows. The lambs soon settled in well, the next season we marked all the male lambs with a red cross and all the females with a blue cross. I got up one morning and only one lamb with a red cross was left on the farm

# A one way trip to the abbertoir
daddy got some new shoes and mummy got a new hat, all us children had new jumpers and welly boots. I have allways asociated the terrified bleating of sheep with nice new clothes and spring time picnics.
(never trust a farmers daughter)

# other side of the pennines
it was the reality of life. Lambs die - we get new toys.
edit: come to think about it, I was allways more upset when the corn crop was harvested than when the lambs went, the corn was ace for hiding in.
