# I like your new background style
I am informed that there is a harvest moon tonight.

# Ooh where in the Bay Area?
I grew up in San Bruno then lived in San Francisco, Berkeley and then Oakland.
(, Mon 21 Oct 2002, 4:57, archived)
I used to live very near Lake Merrit.

# Yes
I'm in east oakland (fruitvale...) in the basement of a huge, beautiful
victorian house.

# Holy Crap, mine was a basement apartment in a huge victorian house
Now I'm looking at you funny.

# I guess it wasn't quite East Oakland
but I had a friend who lived there and I spent a summer on my back on a scaffold, painting his ceiling. East Oakland has the most beautiful weather of the entire Bay area. Thsi will be meaningless to almost everyone except people who grew up in Daly City or on the South slope of Mount Davidson.

# I grew up in Salinas...
off of Monterey, etc... which is considerably foggier than east oakland,
less so than SF

# Arghhhhhhhhhh
My ex-in laws live on Corral de Tierras between Salinas and Monterrey. They bought their place when it was just ranchers and people growing pot. Now they are surrounded by millionaire Produce Barons. I miss the hills so much. I am stranded in Chicago now.

# Hm
I lived by the hills on the opposite side,
surrounded by cow pastures and strawberries. Really rural.

# Ahhhh.
Salinas. As in. Steinbeck country.

# Salinas itself is pretty...ummmm
Hey, you can't beat the Star Market!

# We used to drive across town to get our groceries there
avoid the chains, you know. I'm serious.

# Not only that but
they push the cart to your car and help you get the bags into the trunk.

Now I am practically sick with nostalgia. Must. Stop. Now.

# Well that's vaguely creepy
I just moved this summer, spent 4 yrs in temescal (by Piedmont) prior
(, Mon 21 Oct 2002, 5:08, archived)
# My one memory of Temescal
was going there for a walk off season and suddenly a helicopter dropping from the sky and a voice booming "Get out of the water.."

(, Mon 21 Oct 2002, 5:10, archived)
# Oh you're thinking of the little lake up there
I was further down a bit, off of Broadway.
(, Mon 21 Oct 2002, 5:16, archived)
# Maybe I'm thinking of some other reservoir....
I was in the Bay Area at Christmas last year and brought my boyfriend to see it (we were thinking of moving back) and it fucking rained for about 7 days straight.

I will now hold you personally responsible.
(, Mon 21 Oct 2002, 5:22, archived)
# Ha ha
It doesn't rain enough, gddamnit.
No, you were at Lake Temescal probably.
Not sure if it's actually -in- temescal, but whatever.
