My favourite album, and I'll happily admit this because I'm drunk, is "The Songs of Distant Earth".
It's the only album which has ever sounded like its been deeply inspired by sci-fi novels and the great unimaginable Universe. Which is a good thing.

Although most Oldfield fans I know say it's new age crap (Rik hates it too I think). Nah I thought the guitar on it was amazing and went well with the synthy stuff. I loved the Voyager album as well. He has some excellent Celtic interpretations. Anyway that's my guff on that. I still say you can't beat his old albums though :D

There are a few things he did which do sound quite hippy-ish, but he has been rather experimental in his time.
I got hold of Amarok the other day, that's pretty messed up!

Amarok is enough to make me jizz hehe. That's a hell of an album. I've sat down many a time trying to work out some of the guitar parts. It's too fecking hard man. That album is incredible. One of the best around in my opinion. Then I could go on about Ommadawn but I digress hehe ;)

Ha ha, your profile is pretty much exactly like mine would be, just swap "Photographer" with "Web designer". I still need to make some money out of it. Just started though so...
*once again, doesn't do any work, just sits there listening to music*

Lots of respect for you man. Yeah I need to get off my arse and do something. It's catch 22 with me. I need a cam to make money but I need money to get a cam that I can do what I want with. But hey, you're probably in a better career pathway ;)
