I love the line where he shakes hands with the autodictat
and just as a completely throwaway aside, notes that 'his hand slithered into mine, like some repugnant fat maggot' or whatever. genius. :)
the big where he picks up the pebble to skim it, and can't get over the slight coating of slime, is spot on too.
