I've actually stopped using tommy ketchup, now I've discovered Tonkatsu sauce - subtly different. Pick some up from your local purveyor of Japanese condiments.

Yup,
it looks like HP, but isn't at all tart of vinegary like a brown sauce. You could probably get a similar effect by mixing tomato sauce with a bit of soy and perhaps some Worcestershire sauce. There are carrots and all sort of veggies on the bottle, but as my Japanese isn't too hot, I can't read the ingredients.

It's traditionally meant for dipping breaded deep-fried pork in
but it's just a really nice alternative to tomato sauce.
