Claque?
In modern times, the term claque is also used to describe a behavior in social groups, in which people - most notably teenagers - follow a leader and encourage and applaud all of his or her actions, regardless of the relative immorality of the action or its consequences.
Isn't that clique?

we had one of those, the intellectual students at my high school blindly followed the word of their biology/philosophy teacher, mr. renkwitz
smart man, but heck if he didn't make pro-choice, god-questioning pions out of all of them
