# (I'm sure no-one's going to look at this, but hey...)
I'd be fairly happy with the idea of someone tapping my phone if it meant I didn't get blown up on the bus next week. Or gassed on the tube.

The argument that IYGNTHYGNTF can't be dismissed out of hand. If the police never investigated anyone on the basis that they might *not* be a criminal, no crimes would ever be prevented before they happened. And I'd much rather a bombing was prevented rather than the culpits being caught after the bombing occurred. If innocent people are sometimes investigated in this process, so be it.

# Investigated by mistake, fine.
Shot, banged up in Belmarsh with no evidence etc. Not fine.

Derek Bentley, Guildford 4, Birmingham 6, Jean Charles de Menezes....

IYGNTHYGNTF can quite easily be dismissed out of hand. It's bollocks. If these people wanted some sort of debate I would quite happily oblige but they are more than willing to sleepwalk into a dictatorial society, not caring what injustices happen as long as they don't happen to them or anybody they know.

# seemed appropriate for the situation
They picked Akanni up one morning
Beat him soft like clay
And stuffed him down the belly
Of a waiting jeep. What business of mine is it
So long they don't take the yam
From my savouring mouth?

They came one night
Booted the whole house awake
And dragged Danladi out,
Then off to a lengthy absence.
What business of mine is it
So long they don't take the yam
From my savouring mouth?

Chinwe went to work one day
Only to find her job was gone:
No query, no warning, no probe -
Just one neat sack for a stainless record.
What business of mine is it
So long they don't take the yam
From my savouring mouth?

And then one evening
As I sat down to eat my yam
A knock on the door froze my hungry hand.
The jeep was waiting on my bewildered lawn
Waiting, waiting in its usual silence.

# ^This, very much so.
It's my civil liberties, human rights and freedoms they are taking away. The fact that I am unlikely ever to need to use any of them doesn't make them any less important.
