I can only assume that the reason it didn't catch on was due to the lack of cutting tool.You can't beat a splade.

to cut down size and weight of army gearthe sporks have a serrated (spelling) end to cut food with....which is lame because then you either get food all over your hand or it slips when you cut it because there isnt a fork to hold it down
