Wellafter I'd cloned out the camellemac, I took the background image, copied and flipped it, and copied the original again, so there's like a strip three times the original length, A-B-A.
I didn't bother to gussy up the joins. There is a 4-pixel horizontal blur on it, but that's not always necessary.
Having animated the cut-out camellemac separately, I took successive slices of the background strip, and SHAZAM.
