There's also the issue of voltage - US mains has 120 volts while we have 230 in the UK, so it'll need a whole new transformer, with a UK plug of course...

the PS2 took that long to come out.

the PSP took 10 months to come out in Europe after the Japan release.
as did the original playstation.
