# Fraser, just a thought but...
any chance you can put on the front page a vote for the next compo out of a selection of three different ideas? It would give some control to board users while they would still be picked by you.
It would also give people a chance to prepare for them and get the bandwagons out the way

# Or just do them like they used to
Have a vote on the board an hour beforehand

# It would also stop shit challenges like this
from existing

# Now now
It's only been up for 15 minutes. Anyway, anythings better than the last compo

# In a ideal world...
...you'd choose every week. But we already have a way for challenges to be suggested and voted for via the QOTW section, which isn't used as much as it should be (or, as happens most often, ideas come up but we've used them before) and the front page is for site news.

So we generally stick to the week-on week-off thing. Yiou choose one week, we do the next. Roughly. It seems to work OK.

Whatever, the same thing would happen every week. It would get set. Some people would like it. Some people would hate it. Some entries would be crap, most of the entries would be average, and some would be fantastic.

# Ok, then how about a vote in the news letter?
I know rob comes on and complains a lot about there not being enough content and a vote for that weeks compo would add a few more lines.

If the QOTW compo thing isnt being used there is no point in relying on it. Maybe if you had the vote at the top it would get used more.

This isnt so much about getting good or bad compo entries, its more about the feeling of control over the compos. If you take control away by choosing for us and it doesnt work then we blame you. If we have control then we strive to make better entries.

# The QOTW
thing works when people think the suggestion is good. Last week's challenge was suggested this way, and the amount of support it received was huge. So it got used, and other people still complained - and I doubt there is a challenge that'd keep everyone happy. Which is fine.

# Ok, Im going to pretend to be a mature adult and drop this
I think your right that you are always going to have people irritated with the compo but changing the way it is done may be impractical.
