# Whilst technically correct
It's commonly accepted that there are (at least) two levels to athiesm, even Dawkins states that in his recent book. it's possible to be an athiest and still be open to possibilities, to say you're an agnostic means you are on the fence, you don't believe but you don't disbelieve, 'possibly athiest' is to say you don't believe and are quite certain of that...but wouldn't be so arrogant as say there is absolutely no way it is possible. No-one can truly make that assertion yet.

# I can make that assertation.

And I shall do in just a minute. Maybe after a nice godless cup of tea. :)

# it also depends on
how you define "god".
Is it the Christian/Muslim/etc one who kicks your ass from time to time or just the determination of the universe, "Mr. Big Bang" so to speak?
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:17, archived)
# Very true
Science is pretty close to at least suggesting that it's highly improbable that there is a god that designed us/is designing us, but it's still far from being able to prove or disprove there being a god in the background that started this whole mess off

# is this the same science
that i was taught at school 15 year ago to look
out for the impending ice age??

:D
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:21, archived)
# Yes.

I've got an ice age in my garden. Perhaps it meant that one.
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:25, archived)
# unlike religions, science tends to change its opinion when new facts emerge
and another ice age will definitely come, just wait some ten thousand years °^

besides, some science teachers are just priests in disguise*

Edit: *pedophilia possibly included

# I watched this video on global warming last night
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:34, archived)
# ta, will maybe watch it at home later
but by the looks of it, I won't like it. I tend to explode when I have to listen to infidels for too long.*

*is sometimes a subjective science nazi, even if he wants to be open-minded. sorry.

# It's about global warming
not religion.
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:49, archived)
# yes, me too
you got me wrong
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 17:28, archived)
# I know what you mean
If you're so sure on your point, where's the harm in being factual?
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:51, archived)
# It's the one
infinitely more complex than the big bang we're trying to describe as well as his infinitely complex parents.
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:28, archived)
# i've possibly misinterpreted your categories then
i voted definitely atheist because i don't believe in god the same way as i don't believe the queen is currently hiding under my bed with a goat - i mean it's possible, yes, but i see absolutely no reason to believe it's true.

this would probably be in your probably atheist category though.

# Dawkins made precisely the same sort of analogy
about there being a diamond the size of a refrigerator buried in his back yard.
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:36, archived)
# i think bertrand russell did it years ago
a teapot in the same solar orbit as the earth but too far away to detect with telescopes
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:39, archived)
# Yeah.
Dawkins mentioned that in his book, as well.
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:43, archived)
# Yeah, it's sort of a flawed gauge without predefinition
I voted 'definitely atheist' too because I'm near completely convinced, but I'm a pretty open-minded person, I'd be a massive hypocrite to have a problem with how narrow-minded religion(/religious people) can be and still deny that there is still a possibility a god exists.
Having been forced to define it a little I realised that I defined myself a category lower, heh.
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:45, archived)
# plus
you've defined agnostics as people who literally sit on fences...
(, Mon 12 Mar 2007, 16:50, archived)
# Hahah, I'm going to edit that one
Simply because I'm such a spazz with the language today I need to redeem myself, even if only a little ;)
