# Nice
I saw a system at Xerox EuroPARC about 10 years ago that projected the whole computer display onto your desktop and then used video cameras to watch the desk so you could take a real picture/letter etc straight into the computer just by putting it on your desk.

It was fab - one of their demos was doing a drawing on paper with a pen and having it wrap that drawing around a 3D model of a vase as you drew.

# And no doubt Xerox did their usual thing
and ignored it completely. Like they did when they invented desktop computing.

# Absolutely
the whole project got shelved as soon as it started looking really interesting and the people involved left.

The only reason they seemed interested in it was because it involved real paper rather than all the funky things it let you do.
