I guess that might work.
It's just that it's a very symmetric curve I have in mind, that might just be some cos/sin wave.
Basically, take 4 U shapes, invert 2 of them and stick them together..

I have no idea what that means
but as puro says above for 3D work I would suggest you use a 3D package. As well as the above I use Daz Bryce 6.1 and Daz Studio plus ZBrush.
