There was some debate on Talk Sport the other afternoon ( Hawksbee( Hawksbee and Jacobs have an album review every afternoon ) and the consensus was that it's just another Sherman Tank mis-hearing.

It is deliberate.I read it in some Rolling Stone album preview. Why it was changed was not explored though.
