( Hawksbee and Jacobs have an album review every afternoon ) and the consensus was that it's just another Sherman Tank mis-hearing.

I read it in some Rolling Stone album preview. Why it was changed was not explored though.

Though some residents of northern England might almost recognize the title, the Stripes stress they are spelling it wrong intentionally just for "kicks" and "metaphors", and to avoid a possible lawsuit from the estate of Billy Eckstine

I tend to wander from David Sylvian and Alternative Jazz to the likes of The Sounds of Blackness and Jazz Funk/Fusion, if you must know ;)

You might not be too far removed from what I like.
I am generally happy as long as no wailing or screeching guitars are involved

As far as I am concerned the saying goes...
"For those about to rock....can you piss off out of earshot or there is going to be an almighty fight"

But I think they're outstanding. I have a stripey elephant tattoo.

the woman downstairs had really bad epilepsy. Often she'd have a fit then lay on the ground and bang her head repeatedly on the floor. It was a dull rhythmic thud of despair.
It's almost precisely the same sound, and for all I know the same technique, as the drum track in most White Stripes music.
I think some of their songs are ok in terms of writing ability, but the basic inability of the drummer and the horrible drum production renders them unlistenable for me.

As big a cliche as the old 'Radiohead are depressing' nonsence. If the White Stripes had an immense, complex drum track, it would ruin their simplicity. They don't want to sound like Tool or Mars Volta.

I don't like them much but at least I can recognise their talent. Have you heard this new album? Makes a mockery of what you say up there.
They have hired a full orchestra and a legion of session musos and made every effort to sound EXACTLY like Led Zeppelin.

and an often-repeated truth. She really is an awful drummer.
Simplicity does not equate to inability, and I'm very clear in my own mind which of those two qualities her drumming possesses.
