i've tried removing the kboard from the system settings - when i reboot it detects a keyboard and installs drivers - is it just pretending it can see one?
beacuse there's no connection back from keyboard, no num lock light, not even dring bootng up.
it seems the port/motheboard is where the prob lies.
in summary no keyboard so all i have is a virtul one

that's harsh. I would rather cut off my own testicles than use a virtual keyboard.

It should only take a week or two to train it to spell fucksocks, cuntymints, furtive, and bwahahahah!

not an actual keyboard
This is a good sign.
It could be something simply REALLY crap like a stuck function key - like alt or shift, which is a) causing renaming problems
b) information overload to the system with a constantly repeating key.
I suggest you hoover your keyboard, and hammer the most-used alt/shift/ctrl keys a little to see if it frees up.
Did you try a different keyboard?
