
I would have thought this was a more abstract work, I'm no expert but to me the like of turner is proper impressionism. power and steam is a good example, it conveys the impression of speed and power and trains going woosh but if you don't happen to be in the same frame of mind the artist was in when he painted it and you don't pick up on the cues that convey speed and whoosh then it has the advantage of also actually looking like a train
if you want to invoke tigerishness, then think, what is tigerishness? to me it's stripes, claws, striding across the serenghetti devouring wildebeest.
if I had any skill as a painter I'd paint a tiger on the plains but the painting would be overlaid by stripes that look like the tiger has clawed the canvas and these stripes blend with the stripes on the tiger but at the same time as the are tearing the canvas they are also tearing the flesh of the wildebeest in the painting
now that's impressionism
and I'm shit at painting but I'm pretty handy at tattyshop and I'm going to try that later
