# jet powered hovercraft?
you are mad!
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 23:30, archived)
# actually I am
I was wondering what would be needed technically to use a jet engine and vector it's output such that we could make a full on hoverbike, like in the seminal movie "Some Guy who rode to his death on a jetbike"

# wouldnt it melt the tarmac or something?
it's prolly possibly easier if you use a jet turbine to power a fan instead though

# where we're going
we don't need roads

because we'll be going there at about 400 mph and we'll probably be a mess of snot at the destination

# once you get that fast you can probably use aerodynamics to generate lift, rather than needing a fan
c.f ground effect vehicles
gimme a mo ill find a link

# er
aren't ground effect vehicles like "fucking gigantic" ?

I'm just talking about a bikey

I know a tubine driving a few props of some kind is probably more sane, I guess whatever is doable ends up looking like some kind of aircraft ultimately

# im sure they'll probably scale down, you can get little remote controlled ones i think

# I know nothing of this crazy science
:/

I just want a hoverbike!

damn it, it's already way past space year 2000 and we still don't have them

# there is also a distinct lack of:
1) Living on the moon
B) Four-square-meals-in-a-pill
III) Shiny silver spacesuit clothing
