ok, next question - is there any way of stopping windows menus from shortening so you only see the most recent items used? tyhat really fucks me off

right-click a menu bar or toolbar, choose 'Customize', go to the Options pane, and tick 'Always Show Full Menus'

Meanwhile, if it's your Start Menu (and you're using the 'Classic' Start Menu), then right-click your start button, choose 'Properties', click the 'Customize' button & clear the tick from the 'Use Personlized Menus' tickbox in the 'Advanced Start Menu Options' list.

EDIT : I just re-read that. I may be helpful, but by God am I ever boring....
