Goldfinger had a good mix to be honest.
I haven't read the books, but to be honest, Casino Royale was more my idea of Bond.

Well I grew up with Goldeneye. So I can't claim to be very knowledgeable about Bond.

hmmBond has always been silly, but at least with Bonds like Connery they could be cold and calculating as well as smarmy and cocky... you gotta have the action scenes but I like a bit of a build up and tension, and some cutting dialogue on the way.
I dunno, I really couldn't stand the Brosnan Bonds but I understand I'm in a minority there.
