If he changes the image on his siteit'll change immediately...
if he changes the message to link to a different image it will update as soon as something else on the frontpage updates (blog entry, frontpage item etc).
Luckily there is an 'unfrontpage' as well as an 'frontpage' button within range of the Magic Donkey's hooves.
