# In the Elizabethan times
Being pale was a sign of nobility, if you had a tan it was because you worked in the fields.

# it was only made fashionable by the rich
who could afford to holiday abroad

it then became tacky again with the invention of package holidays

now people moan at me for smoking
whilst the rest of the country contracts skin cancer
in any of the million tanning salons across the country...

mmmm.

# The tan as a fashionable thing
was because of Coco Chanel when she got a bit caught by the sun on holiday.

# That sounds like a lovely trip!
I want to go and see some of the original Bauhaus buildings- it'd be lovely.

They're knocking down my home town's last piece of deco loveliness- the original Odeon. To make room for a Sainsbury's carpark expansion.

Cunts.

# what is it,
with people wanting to tear down art deco cinemas? They seem to all be doomed.

Such a shame, there should be a protest.

# There should have been, but we didn't know until it was sold.
It hasn't been used, but I remember it from when I was a kid- all mint green and black tiles inside and velvet curtains around the screen.

God it was beautiful.

# I should add on,
If you read any books from the 20's, Great Gatsby, for example, Daisy and Jordan Baker are seen to have a tan, but cover them selves with powder to try and cover up their tan.

smokeing does look cool, just not the side effects. Personally I don't care if someone smokes, I don't do it myself.

It's just a matter of deciding what you're going to kill yourself with.

I've chosen sugar, fat and carbohydrate.
