Also tried making a shadow... any tips for that?

# well....
(can of worms time)
the way I do it is make a black shape of what i want to shadow,
then fiddle with opacity and perspective till it looks semi-presentable

(*snicker* - i said fiddle & semi!)

# just try and make it look like the shadow on the right
very subtle and soft edges.

# shadows
select the shape you want to shadow
create another layer and fill the shape with black
free transform this rotating it and adjusting length to light conditions. The shadow is usually connected to its source at the bottom of the source (e.g.feet)
adjust opacity of shadow and apply a gaussian blur. play around with the degrees of each depending on the light conitions of the original
This gives a very accurate shadow
