It is indeed elaborate for cinematic effect. Rest assured though that I would have taken someone's head off if it had connected.

I do Wing Chun, so I'd never be that far away to begin with. And I never kick above waist height in a real fight either. It's all about going for the knees. Or the balls.

EDIT: I take it you also have an interest in martial arts. Any particular discipline?

I have a friend who is a Ninjutsu instructor that was telling me about it.
It seems like a pretty expansive art. Doesn't it use the Jo staff a lot?

I've been doing Ip Man lineage Wing Chun for nearly 3 years, and I've done Tae Kwon Do for a few years but had to give it up recently after sustaining quite an unpleasant knee injury.
