# Hello.
They only get sold in yearly chunks. Of course, you could always borrow one for a while.

edit: they're dirt cheap though. You might as well get one for a year. I recommend ukreg.com

# I don't mind buying
the domain for a year, cos that's quite cheap. I just don't know how easy it is to upload the actual website and I don't want to get stuck paying for the sitebuilder thingy for a whole year, that's when it gets pricey.

I use ukreg for my afinkawan.co.uk domain. I don't mind paying the few quid a month for the sitebuilder on that as I actually use it. this is just a rush job for a mate's wedding details and won't be needed after the end of October.

# OK so.
You will need:

To register the domain. ukreg are super good.
Some hosting: you can buy a cheap hosting package somewhere, or if you have servers then you can set up virtual hosting and use them.
ukreg do some cheap hosting packages, but I don't know anything about them. They could be good, they could be crap.

edit: perhaps you know someone who has a server you can use, if it's just for a temporary low volume site.

# Oh well.
It was the hosting I was hoping to get cheap/free/only for a couple of months.

I don't think I know anyone with a server. Hmmm.

# I've not looked at this myself yet...
But apparently you can get free hosting, domain name and e-mail when you sign up to MS office basics.....

It may be totally crap and not what you're looking for at all, but just throwing it out there

office.microsoft.com/en-GB/officelive/default.aspx

# I'll have a look, cheers.
but Microsoft giving something away for free....? sounds a bit dodgy.

# I agree
But still, the freeness is enticing....

# I'll give it a go
Many thanks!
