"gauged" roughly means "assessed the size of". NOT "stretched".
"Gauging" does NOT mean "to stretch ones piercings", not matter WHAT the kiddies at school tell you.
but yes, i have sets of 8mm, 4mm and 2mm [0ga, 6ga, 12ga]

1. To measure precisely.
2. To determine the capacity, volume, or contents of.
3. To evaluate or judge: gauge a person's ability.
4. To adapt to a specified measurement.
5. To mix (plaster) in specific proportions.
6. To chip or rub (bricks or stones) to size.
[Middle English, from Old North French
"To gauge" basically means "to measure"
and "a gauge" is a scale of measurement - i.e: the French gauge scale that is commonly used to measure body jewellery sizes.
it DOESN'T mean "to stretch", nor does it mean "tunnes/plugs/other jewellery" i.e: you do not have gauges in your ears. you have jewellery of a certain gauge in you ears. yup.
