and it was rubbish.

Instead of people being clever about making their pictures smaller, everybody just ramped up the jpeg compression until their picture was unrecognisable.

That's a bit unsporting really, and they probably wouldn't/shouldn't get as many votes as the ones that took the effort to use minimal colours/size from the outset
