# SHINY NEW GRAPHICS TABLETS MUST BE DEFILED WITH A CDC FIRST
Despite how amusing this is, I demand a CDC...

# I have already CDCed

I am now very confused as to whether to mouse or pen!

# yes
exactly what they are for.
what did you get, btw? and how are you finding it?

# I got the wacom bamboo
A6, £50. Their marketing spiel says it's not for art, it's for office work, but the only difference between this and the one that costs £20 more is that it doesn't have an "eraser" at the end of the pen. I decided that I change tools too often for that to matter much to me.

My very first tablet, and I've wanted one since I was a kid :) By the end of doing this, I'm already starting to get the hang of it, I think.

# Excellent choice :D
That's my tablet, too.

By the way - the wacom bamboo does have an eraser on the end. So the only difference between the bamboo and the bamboo fun is that the bamboo fun comes with unnecessary graphics software and looks a bit different.

# Aha!
In that case, I'll have to see if I can make use of it :) I have confused myself once holding it upside down and wondering why it wasn't doing quite what I expected....

# I don't even use the eraser.
I find it faster to just manually change modes rather than flip the pen around.
(, Tue 20 Nov 2007, 23:23, archived)
# I can believe that.
I always have a hand on the keyboard anyway, which was why I didn't mind not having an eraser in the first place.
(, Tue 20 Nov 2007, 23:50, archived)
# hmm. i'm still wondering
wacom & tiny, or not-wacom & usable size but not as nice
although i can't draw proper in any case, so maybe this is moot

# Get the Wacom Bamboo (but not the Bamboo One or Bamboo Fun).
It's ace. It's a bit bigger than A6, I think. I thought it'd be too small - but it's perfect, in fact I could probably draw just fine if it was half the size.

The thing with Wacoms is their pens don't need batteries like other ones seem to do. So you'll save money in the long run, if you think about it.
