not that much you can do,filters and unsharp mask may at least help, worth a look at autolevelling too which is ctrl+a I believe, other than that and a few minor adjustments there really isn't that much that's available as an option.

but shirly you are wrong.Photoshop is the best post-processing tool on the planet as long as you use adjustment layers instead of trying to doctor the original image.
