Although, in truth, if the photos are shit to start with then photoshop isn't going to do much. You might be able to fix some bad lighting, or straighten and crop badly framed pictures, but you can't polish a turd so to speak. Well, you can't polish it much.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to take a shit photographand make it into something wonderful in photoshop, but generally speaking you need a decent source image to get a decent result.
