# not so
In British usage, the spellings encyclopedia and encyclopaedia are both current; in American usage, only the former is commonly used.

That's from Wikipedia.

# that (last line) tells you
everything you need to know

also current is not correct. any use of ped is due to the yankee influence

# Yeah, but
Yankee influence doesn't make the alternative spelling incorrect. Just alternative.

There are many Englishes now, all of them correct in their own ways. Innit?

# doesn't have much to do
with the word encyclopaedia even if it is derived from it. It's a registered trade mark and the correct way to spell it is the way they do. If it was registered as 'cuntbolllocks' with three 'Ls' then that would also be correct. I think Cuntbollocks would be more accurate though.

# Well yes that's true.
But they're still cunts. Just because.

# aye.
First thing I do when confronted by some smart arse and his wiki links is to ensure I avoid clicking them. I abhor the place and it's spreading of bollocks.

# I love how my deliberate misspelling caused all this discussion
;)

# haha
