I've made floors (and a few skies) using a similar method, but I didn't use them as displacement maps at the end.

Edit: No, I just mean generally really. I wanted to know if I was missing a trick basically. There are always other ways to do stuff. It's pretty much the method I've used before though.

The clue's in the filename.
But it didn't work well and I gave up on it, so I thought "Fuck it. I'll just cut its head off and reflect it". So I did.
